This is a novella in Katie Reus' Deadly Ops Series. Book 2.5 and centers around Chief nursing officer Hannah Young who was kidnapped and wants nothing more than to feel safe and to good, honest guy. She spent 4 days with DAX, a NSA agent, although he led her to believe he wasn't a field operative. After four days of intense sex and feeling close to him Dax stands her up. Now, two weeks later, Dax is back and all he can tell her is that he couldn't tell her where he'd been but that he missed her and was sorry. Hannah is no longer sure she wants to be involved with Dax but Dax isn't willing to give up. He has finally found someone he wants to be in a relationship with. Even though Hannah feels connected to Dax she isn't sure she can trust him and Dax has to get permission before he can let Hannah know that he is a field agent and was on a mission. But when someone tries to kill Hannah Dax is the only man she can turn to for help and Dax isn't about to let her get hurt on his watch.I enjoy this series. This book isn't very long, but it's a novella so I can't complain. It's a quick, easy read and I enjoyed it. It's full of suspense and action and although it's obvious who's out to kill Hannah it doesn't take the enjoyment out of the book. Hannah is a strong woman and I loved that she let Dax protect her and didn't get in the way or insist on trying to take care of herself. Dax was an alpha male, protective, determined, willing to do whatever it takes to protect her and convince her to let him back into her life. I just wish the book was a bit longer. Hannah and Dax were an fun and interesting characters who I really enjoyed.

Chasing Danger A Deadly Ops Novel edition by Katie Reus Romance eBooks Reviews
Katie is an amazing author !! This book keeps you wrapped up in the storyline 'til the end. Plus all that HOTNESS counts!!!
This was a really sweet story and it amazes me how this author brings so much depth to the characters in such a short period of time.
My only problem is, I don't really understand the purpose of a novella??? Why do a short story when your novels are so good? I almost didn't read this because of it being a short story; however, I'm glad I did.
I loved Dax's total commitment to keeping Hannah in his life. I loved his willingness to show vulnerability when it came to his feelings for her especially being a bad arse federal agent. We didn't get to see much of his agent life, but it didn't take away from his overwhelming presence. Hannah was nice, I'm glad she showed understanding in his career choice after he was able to explain some of it to her. Good addition to the series.
Good book, good story. I have read enough of Kathie Reus' books to know how they flow, this one is no exception. There is an alpha male, a damsel in danger, HOT sex, quick love, and typically death to the one threatening the alpha males lover. The names change, the danger changes but, the rest is the same. The guys are always smoking HOT, the women are always gorgeous and tough as hell. I love Katie Reus' books; I search them out when at the end of my read list. I recommend this book, enjoy! This is one of the shortest ones, novella is right.
Another delicious installment in the Deadly Ops series. Ms. Reus delivers a charming, yet suspenseful romance. Dax and Hannah had a passion-filled night before Dax had to leave on very short notice for a mission. Unable to tell Hannah what he does, or even that he has to leave, she believes he just left without saying goodbye. Now Dax is back and ready to pick up where they left off, but after not hearing from him for weeks Hannah has other plans... and they don't include Dax.
When someone makes an attempt on her life she has to depend on the person who can protect her and drive her libido wild, Dax.
Chasing Danger is a quick, fun read. Highly recommended!
Chasing Danger is short novella (about 90 pages) in Katie Reus’ Deadly Ops series. This novella is set in Miami and highlights the life of Hannah Young. She was introduced in Bound to Danger (Book 2). I think that you will enjoy this story more if you read Bound to Danger first. It will give you added insight into Hannah’s reactions and feelings. Overall it was a great read. The characters are believable. The situation and action could certainly happen. The suspense is there. I really liked Dax – I felt for him and the situation he was in – not being able to tell Hannah where he was going or even being able to communicate with her because of his job. He had a lot to make up for and certainly did that and more. The chemistry between Dax and Hannah is off the charts HOT. I would give this novella a solid four and half stars. I can’t wait to read more of this series.
All Dax Costas wants is a second chance with Hannah Young. She's changed everything for him, and nothing's the same since the four delicious days they spent in bed together two weeks ago... before he had to go dark. The book description explains the story premise quite well, but says it was just one night. I distinctly remember reading Hannah had even called in sick, two days in a row, to continue their intense lovemaking. She's hurt, and justifiably so. It's going to take a great deal more than a casual "sorry, babe" to convince her Dax is in this for good.
I'm a huge fan of Second Chance-themed romances, and found myself rooting for both Dax and Hannah, for different reasons. Hannah's in trouble, and as the story unfolds and Dax's training as an operator shows his strengths and capacity, he stole my heart. This novella has a just the right amount of villain, happenings, and story to fit within its compact size. Kudos to Ms. Reus for a winning novella.
