I have loved Terry Brooks forever it seems. I will always love his writings. The Shannara series was, is and always will be my favorite reads. This time around is my third time purchasing them, (all of them) and about my 20th time reading them.

Start at the beginning, you won’t be disappointed whatsoever! You feel like it couldn’t keep up with the last but you are swept away every time.
Magic and faeries and all manner of things come to a standing point in this one. As always, Brooks is a master in the telling. I began with The Sword of Shannara back in 1980-something, nearly didn't read this set as I didn't want the memories soiled. But very glad I did!
This is a great second of three book in a series. The second novel always carries a great load in taking the threads of the first novel and tying them together to position for the third to finalize. This book did it well. I did have a little trouble getting past Wren's several chapters of remorse that she came to find her roots and identity and was not happy she had, but looking back I see it was necessary to deveop her from a Rover girl to her heritage. all in all, I found this a great read and have the third book in hand.
I read this book when it first came out. On rereading and having forgot most of it, I found it even more exciting. As always with Terry Brooks the endings are bittersweet and not everyone survives.
I enjoy the Shannara series. They're fun, though I tend to skim repetitive ruminations. But for heavens sake! Couldn't someone have actually PROOFREAD this prior to e-publishing??? There was one most memorable sentence in which we are told that someone twisted in another character's anus. I am assuming "arms" was meant but...

Seriously considered quitting reading and just going to the library to check it out in print. It's awful and it detracts in every chapter. Fix it and republish an update for those of us stuck with this turkey.
I think I've read most of the books in the whole Shannara series by Terry Brooks, but this series has been one of my favorites. This is book four in the Heritage of Shannara series (The Scions of Shannara, The Druid of Shannara, and The Elf Queen of Shannara are the earlier books) and it is an exciting end to our hero's adventures. I've found all of the books hard to put down for any time as I keep wondering what is going to happen next.

While The Genesis of Shannara is probably my absolute favorite series of books by this author, I would put this series down as my almost favorite.

A good read for any fan of fantasy fiction.
Another great book in the Shannara saga. Action packed is an understatement for this book. I recommend this book and it's author.
